An extended appointment for musculoskeletal problems such as plantar fasciitis, tendinopathies and arthritis. For feet that hurt when your active, painful joints or concerns about the way you walk. You will be asked lots of questions about your symptoms, previous treatment, medical history and lifestyle.
The aim of this appointment is to diagnose your problem and create a treatment plan. Ultrasound scanning is often used to aid in your diagnosis. We do not have a "one size fits all" assessment and treatment approach, and generally a full objective assessment including gait analysis, biomechanical assessment and muscle testing is completed over your first 1-3 appointments.
Treatment might include exercises and stretches prescribed to you via a website link or mobile phone app, orthoses, shoe insoles or footwear changes. This appointment type is also appropriate for children.
We will continue your assessment, discuss exercises and stretches, issue or review orthoses and talk about sport and footwear.
Have you a verruca, corn, funny looking or painful toenail, callus, corns or a strange rash? Do you need a diabetic foot assessment and some advice? We have a longer appointment to ask you about your general health and your foot problem and discuss your treatment options. Treatment is usually started at this appointment. HANNAH IS NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS FOR ROUTINE/GENERAL PODIATRY unless they are a) a child, b) BUPA, c) a family member of an existing patient, c) a student or d) requiring an assessment for nail surgery or verruca needling.
These appointments are booked by existing patients to continue their treatment. This might be to treat your verruca, to scrape the hard skin off your feet before your summer holiday, to sort out that corn or tricky toenail, your regular maintenance appointment or for a diabetic check up.
These brief appointments are booked by the podiatrist for some types of reviews.
These might be booked after a video, in clinic consultation or by referral from another podiatrist. You will be unable to drive or walk home after your appointment. The fee includes follow up appointments and dressings.
Do you have feet that hurt when you are active? Do you have concerns about the way you walk? We will spend time talking about your symptoms, lifestyle and footwear before completing an assessment. Treatment might include exercises and stretches prescribed to you via the Physitrack website link or mobile phone app. If you need orthoses or shoe insoles, these can generally be arranged by post. This appointment type is also appropriate for children.
Whether you have a skin complaint, a funny looking toenail, a suspected fungal rash, a painful corn or something else, we will take your medical history and assess your feet. You are encouraged to email photos of your feet prior to the appointment to aid the diagnosis.
There is a lot we can do to help you over a video appointment, from recommending creams and posting out paddings to arranging the supply of antibiotics.
Temporary orthoses £15
Simple insoles from £35 each
Premade or off-the-shelf orthoses £55 - £60
Custom made orthoses from £340
A lesson on grammar! "Orthotic" is the commonly used word, but the correct word is actually "orthosis" (plural "orthoses". The word "orthotic" is actually the adjective, for example "orthotic treatment" or "orthotic device". "Orthosis" is the noun, with the plural "orthoses". So now you know! But we will understand you, no matter what you call them.
Orthoses are anything that alter forces to change foot function. This can include supportive footwear, but most commonly refers to plastic or rubber devices that are prescribed to a specific prescription and follow the contours of your feet. Alternatively, a simple insole is often used to offload a painful area - such as a recurrent corn or painful joint - but can also offer basic arch support.
We prefer payment by card or BACS.
We also sell a range of foot cream, silicon appliances and other helpful items in the clinic.
Lots of children come to see podiatrists. While many of their problems are similar to the adult foot, they do also have their own range of unique issues. That said, not all young feet require treatment and after careful assessment we will discuss options and advise what is appropriate.
While many children are anxious coming into a clinic, we are experienced in making our younger patients feel happy and calm. We involve young patients in decisions about their treatment options in an age appropriate way.
Hannah is qualified to administer joint and corticosteroid injections. Steroid injections can be very helpful when conservative treatment, such as orthoses, haven’t worked. Most commonly injections will be for a morton’s neuroma, plantar fasciitis or hallux limitus. Referrals from other health professionals are very welcome.
Current guidance recommends steroid injections are avoided for two weeks after a COVID-19 vaccination.
